Senior Commercial Risk Placement Broker

Primary Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned commercial book of business across various industry sectors
- Collaborate with producers and clients to assess risk exposure and coverage needs
- Identify and address coverage gaps; upsell and cross-sell appropriate insurance solutions
- Prepare detailed marketing submissions, proposals, and binders
- Coordinate placements with insurer partners for both standard and specialty products
- Manage complex placements for mid to large accounts ($50,000 to $1 million+), including U.S. and international risks
- Utilize creativity in structuring proposals and product offerings to meet client needs
- Ensure high-quality documentation and compliance with brokerage standards
Knowledge, Skills and Requirements
Licensing & Education
- Active RIBO license in good standing (required)
- Professional designations such as CAIB, CIP, or CRM are considered an asset
Industry Experience
- 7–10 years of Commercial Lines brokerage experience
- Experience in Commercial Surety (POA) is an asset
- Experience in placing all classes of insurance, including specialty products
- Proven success handling mid-to-large multi-line accounts ranging from niche and $50,000 to $1 million in premium
- Experience with US and International risk placements
- Knowledge of specialty products and/or segment needs (e.g. Cyber, D&O, E&O) considered an asset
- Experience in a “hard” insurance market cycle considered an asset
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Strong technical insurance knowledge and analytical skills
- Ability to identify coverage gaps and develop tailored solutions
- Proficient in MS Office, EPIC, and PolicyWorks (required)
- Ability to use creativity in structuring product proposals and documentation
- Organized with strong time management skills
- Self-directed with ability to manage multiple placements and complex accounts
Interpersonal & Sales Skills
- Exceptional customer service skills with strong business acumen
- Sales-driven approach to account management—includes upselling and cross-selling capabilities
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
- Team player—with a strong and positive work ethic
- Adaptable and flexible in a dynamic environment
Work Environment Requirements
- Must have company-approved and seamless remote work functionality and capability
- Comfortable in a hybrid work environment (combining remote and in-office work as required)
Compensation Range: $85,000 to $135,000 annually
Compensation is based on a full-time 35-hour work week and will be dependent upon the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. It includes variable commissions and potential performance-based bonus.
